Many entries include homes from Basic City, which was once an incorporated town in Augusta County. It was consolidated with the town of Waynesboro in 1924. Waynesboro would go on to become an independent city in 1948. This volume allows an interesting glimpse into a period of change and economic vulnerability that proceeded to shape the structure of the towns and cities within this area of Augusta County.
