Description

This is a map of Basic City created by D.C. Humphreys in November of 1890. Basic City was incorporated as a town in 1890 by an act of the Virginia General Assembly.

This plat showcases the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad along with a drawing of Hotel Brandon in the bottom left-hand corner. Other landmarks include the South River, which winds its way through the left portion of the map. Included is an inscription written by Samuel Forrer, President of the Basic City Mining, Manufacturing, and Land Company.
